A practical portable scanner

With a generous screen, an alpha numeric keypad, as well as many different features such as "Call Close" which will detect nearby signals make it a very popular handheld scanner for listening to airband transmissions.

It is capable of receiving aircraft transmissions, civil, commercial, military institutions, public emergency services and many others. It will also receive emergency, marine, amateur (radio amateur) and other communications.

It comes complete with an antenna, power supply, belt clip and user manual. The frequency range is 25-1300 MHz (with gaps).

Ways of working

The Uniden SDS100EDN scanner usually allows you to set either AM (Amplitude Modulation) or FM (Frequency Modulation). It can also have NFM (Narrow FM), WFM (Wide FM) and FMB. More details about each strip can be found in the product's user manual.

Search and scan

When using the scanner, you can use the "Search" mode where it searches through a range of frequencies until it stops when it finds a transmission to listen to, or you can use the "Scan" mode where you store specific frequencies in the scanner and it will only scan through these frequencies until it finds a transmission.

The innovative channel organization system is based on the structure of frequencies and their storage in memory in a dynamic way. The system is called DMA (Dynamic Memory Architecture) and offers a much more efficient organization of channels, frequencies and received broadcasts.

Scanner range

With the Uniden SDS100EDN scanner you easily pick up transmissions from aircraft in the air because there are no obstacles between you and the aircraft, but you may not hear the control tower of a nearby airport because there are obstacles such as hills and buildings etc. If you want to hear the control tower, as well as the plane, then you should be in the vicinity of the airport.
